Why it works

We know that working out is good for us yet for so many people getting started or staying committed is difficult. We don’t just work out for the sake of it. Our at home workouts are designed to keep you coming back for more. Everything we do has a purpose and is part of your fitness journey. Our workouts are multiple 2-4 minute sections linked together for a perfect workout.

Community

DanceToned is all about community and coming together as a team. We have an exclusive group for DanceToned Members only. This is where we come together and encourage and push each other.

Quality Over Quantity

We use the theories and techniques that dancers use and apply them to regular at home fitness programs.

Most fitness programs have a timer and the aim is to do as many reps as possible in that time. This is great for pushing to our limits but it can lead to injuries for people that aren't fitness experts, it puts quantity first and doesn't put focus on good technique and let's be honest most people just want to get fit and stay fit and not be grunting and shouting at home. This is good for short term fitness and not long term. At DanceToned we help you get fit for the long term.

DanceToned is different - Rather than doing as many reps as possible in a set time we use music and follow the beat. This is just like when dancers use music to dance. Here we are just using fitness moves instead of dance moves. Keeping up with the music allows for safe movement. If we want you to push harder we choose a fast music track, we use the music mood and tempo to set the workout speed and intensity.

Why follow along workouts?

If you go to a big box gym you need to know what you are doing otherwise you just repeat the same few exercises each time and risk injuring yourself by doing things incorrectly. Many people do HIIT training at home, meaning you are working as fast as possible without thinking about correct form and then there is personal training which is great but expensive and is only there to correct form during a PT session.

DanceToned is different - Following along at home with the tempo of the music means you are working at the same speed as me. I am giving real time cuing and help throughout each move to help you correct your own form. As you are following along with me you can self correct making sure what you are doing looks just like me.

Keeping things fresh

Yes this is a real thing and no, we didn’t make this up! At DanceToned each workout/ challenge is always a different workout. Throughout a challenge you will never repeat a workout. At DanceToned we change up the view on each program or challenge. The background or set is always different so that you don’t get bored watching the same thing all the time. You will never repeat a workout and each workout is too a different song. This keeps it fresh, new and exciting each time for the viewers.

Repetitions for a reason

Many fitness programs focus on lots of repetitions of a single action like a bicep curl or static squat. While this can work for some people it comes with some challenges. Repetition of a single action can lead to overworking certain muscle groups and cause tightness and can lead to injury. Usually it focuses on only the major muscle groups and ignores all the additional muscles that we use in daily life and the ones that really give us a strong core and that DanceToned look. We end up with big muscles but not a strong core through complex muscle group development.

DanceToned is different - Rather than repeating single moves we have built our workouts around sections. Each section is a song and each song contains a wide variety of moves that focus on a single workout type. If it's an Ab section you will be working on your abdominal area for 3-4 minutes, but you won’t just be doing a single action like a crunch. Instead you will do a series of different moves. Think of it as a fitness routine. Each workout has about 7 sections which is made up of 1 warm up, multiple workout sections and 1 cooldown. If it's an Ab day you won't just be doing hundreds of crunches. Instead you will do a full body warmup then 5 completely different Ab sections that could include more than just abs, there will be cardio sections, core sections and other sections included. This is how we ensure you are working not just individual muscles but an entire area of your body.

Each workout has a warm up, 5 sections and a cooldown. Each section is a different song and focuses on something different. Throughout a 30 day program a section will be repeated multiple times. This is the Dance theory.  Dancers repeat choreography during a rehearsal process. On day 1 we don't know the routine well, we may need to build some additional strength to fully complete the steps and we might need to build stamina to get through the show. The same goes for DanceToned, repeating sections allows us to grow with confidence, allows our bodies to get stronger and helps build stamina. It keeps the best of both worlds. And the results are incredible.

How we keep things fresh

Many fitness programs focus on changing up the workout every day to keep the body confused while others do the same series of things every single day or on a weekly cycle. Changing the workout constantly means many people lose confidence in what they are doing and find it hard to get into a flow of working out. If it never changes then you are only working a small muscle group and we become bored over time and lose interest.

DanceToned is different - Using our sections we are able to keep things fresh and interesting while building confidence through returning sections. The first time you do a specific section you won’t know it and your technique may not be perfect. But that same section may come back a few days later and will repeat many times throughout a challenge. Each time it comes back you will get stronger, your form will improve and ultimately you will feel a sense of confidence as you know the workout. However, as each day has up to 7 sections the sections are not repeated in the same order and no two days are identical so it keeps things fresh to ensure you don't get bored.

Why our at home workouts work

At home workouts are fantastic but they come with a few challenges. The great thing with at home workouts is it cuts down the amount of time you need to workout. You don't have to travel to a gym, or workout on your way too or from work and then have to shower and take a change of clothes. A 25 minute workout can take over an hour of your day. With at home workouts a 25 minute workout can take just 30 minutes. However, a major problem with at home workouts is the lack of motivation, the sense of working towards a final goal or working out with a group of people like in a class.

DanceToned takes care of these with our Challenges. New challenges come out every 3 months and last anywhere from 21 days to 45 days. Every DanceToned member starts each challenge at the same time meaning the entire DanceToned community around the world are doing the same workout each day. I do the workouts too and post about it each day. Members are part of a private group and post their photos, share their experiences and really push everyone to keep going. So although you are working out at home you are part of a larger group fitness experience. And it's AWESOME! These challenges also help to keep members motivated and focussed on their fitness goals. If you fall off and stop working out there is always a new challenge starting in a few months which is the perfect excuse to jump back in and challenge yourself. Completing a challenge gives members a huge sense of achievement and helps create targets to work towards.

Goal Setting

Having goals in life is really important and the same goes for health, wellness and fitness. There are many programs out there that focus solely on calories, weight and size. While these are great and we all have goals at DanceToned we understand that everyone is different. We believe that fitness is not a short term thing and our entire motto is to ‘get fit for life’. We put all of our focus on staying motivated and ensuring you stay committed for the rest of your life. If you are taking part in all of the DanceToned challenges you will be working out regularly and over time you will reach your calorie, weight and size goals.

We understand that sometimes we fail and sometimes we don’t reach our goals as quickly as we’d like. This is exactly why we have our Challenges. They are a kind of reset point. No matter what came before, no matter what you did last week, last month or even last year. When a new challenge starts it's time to start a fresh and start the challenge on day 1 and complete the entire challenge. I’m here every step of the way doing every challenge with you. I believe in DanceToned so much that I do every challenge and dancers around the world are also doing it with you. So remember let’s get DanceToned and let's ‘get fit forever’.
